It’s evident the majority of people in Essex aspire to look after their health, fitness and physique, and when A Balanced Life (ABL) Studio in Loughton opened its calming doors this April, it offered something more than just a Yoga, Pilates and holistic studio
Founded on authenticity and innovation, owner Tori Norris, who has been a Pilates teacher for more 13 years, trained at prestigious leading schools, including Pilates Foundation, APPI and USA Balanced Body. This has enabled her to pioneer new and inventive fitness concepts to the local area.
‘Essex doesn’t seem to offer the level of equipment and variety I provide and I believe I fill a gap in this particular market, Pilates is more than the mat and reformers. Joseph Pilates created the technique around four pieces of equipment The Cadillac, Reformer, Ladder Barrel and Wunda Chair, then followed by mat work. We offer all of this equipment as it combines the complete Pilates workout and allows you to facilitate muscle groups and exercises making them more efficient and effective,’ Tori explains.
She continues: ‘Our unique teaching techniques combined with the latest equipment will help us to deliver sessions that will enhance your body’s strength, agility and overall performance. We use resistance equipment to strengthen and stretch the body to keep all of the exercises dynamic and unpredictable. The ABL team of teacher’s really care about every client. We want them to feel better about the body they are in when they leave the studio and the clients experience is very important to us’, she says.
ABL encourages anyone who strives to create a healthier and happier body to be in and its method is suitable for all. They want to help anyone, be you an athlete, recovering from injury, office worker, full time mum or housewife, sports enthusiast, golfer, pre- or post-pregnancy mum, as well as those growing old gracefully.
‘It was important for me to make all of the equipment accessible to group classes. This is why I chose to offer Tower classes as they are a combination of the Cadillac and Reformer put together, so therefore more effective. We also have the Ab Arc’s and the brand new Pilates MOTR’s along with Aerial and suspension training.’
Tori explains further: ‘I offer a free 30 minute consultation so clients can come and see what we offer and why we are so different. I help to manage expectations and I am always honest what’s achievable and what is not.’
She adds: ‘From our personal one-on-one sessions to our innovative classes, they are all individualized to cater to each client. The classes are intimate, so if a certain client is unable to do a particular workout I will allocate something else for them to do, but what is important is, they are still focusing on that move like everyone else.’
Tori, believes everyone who walks through her door is her next ‘blank canvas’ to work with. ‘You need to be creative enough to be able to work around every client and work out what is going to benefit them and that’s my biggest factor. I just love to see people happy in their bodies and I am here to support them in reaching their goals in a beautiful studio that clients are calling a holistic haven.
‘I am really proud of what I have achieved so far in my career and for me, the studio is about attention to detail and providing that personal touch to each session. My aim is to educate the individual about their body because everyone needs to remember the body is where you ultimately live. It is not in your house, car or clothes, so how can we help create your ultimate home?’
