Andrew Lysandrou is a young entrepreneur in the making. Here he talks to WEL about achieving his dreams, always aiming high, but still finding time to fun with his friends

Who are you and what do you do?

I am Andrew Lysandrou. I am a barber and founder of the newly established Barber Driks, a male grooming salon, which I have just opened in Station Road, North Chingford.

Where do you live?

North Chingford, which is great as I don’t have to travel too far.

What do you love about your job?

I feel privileged to be able to do something that I love and I am passionate about everyday. I enjoy the banter I have with my clients and seeing them leave happy with their new look – that’s all that matters.

What is the best part of your job?

Being able to research new ideas and trends and bring them to life in the unique environment that is Barber Driks

What is the worst part of your job?

Honestly nothing, I really love every aspect of my job.

What is the secret of your success?

I will never stop!

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?

Apart from opening my new salon, Barber Driks it has to be the time I spent in Australia working at Culture Kings. This salon inspired me to open my own barber salon and enabled me to research my own brand and create something new and fresh to barbering back in the UK.. However, to be able to release my own product range and clothing was a big step for me as well.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Taking the brand over to Ibiza and Marbella and to grow the product line here in the UK too. I am also striving to improve my skills because I believe you can never stop learning.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Socialise with my friends and maybe go out for a pint or ten!

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear would be if my hands got damaged as my life would be hopeless without them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I am doing right now.

Where do you go for a guy’s night out?

Every good night is going to start at Barber Driks with the beers flowing and the music pumping, then a short walk over to Essex House 152 for a few drinks, then see where the night takes us!

What’s your drink of choice after a hard day?

A cold beer.

Are you doing anything for Halloween?

Of course I love Halloween! After a busy day of cutting hair, I will properly get dressed up and go out to Club 195 in Epping with my pals.

What is top on your bucket list?

I think I have achieved this by opening Barber Driks before turning 21-years-old. However, next will be travelling the rest of the world and experiencing new things. But becoming really successful along the way.
