Lloyd Moulder from Bathworks talks to us about realising his dream of running his own business and shares his love of Turkish food

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Lloyd Moulder and I am one of two directors for BathWorks Ltd. We offer supply-only or supply and fit services on all styles of bathroom equipment, from cloakrooms to wet rooms.

How did you get started?

I discussed the idea with my friend, Richard Banks. At the time we worked with a shower door manufacturer, but I had always fancied the idea of running my own business. We opened our first outlet in Milton Keynes 11 years ago and in 2011 we opened our second bathroom studio in Woodford Green High Road.

What do you love about your job?

Being able to create ideas and designs for clients. Then seeing the design come to life, transforming the old bathroom into a fantastic bathroom or en suite. There is nothing better than a satisfied client.

What is the secret of your success?

No secret! I was once told, ‘the only place Success comes before Work is in the dictionary’.

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?

Probably reaching 10 years trading in 2013. I believe we have improved our overall service year on year as a business. Plus of course being a Charity Champion for Haven House and raising £10,000.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

We strive to establish Bathworks as being the first name people think of when considering a new bathroom.

Where do you live and what do you like about it?

I live in Loughton, which is close to London but far enough away from work. It offers good access for town and the coast, plus we have Epping Forest on our doorstep.

What are you driving at the moment?

Anything that gets me from A to B is fine in my book.

Which is your favourite local restaurant and why?

Mezze Ocakbasi in Johnston Road, Woodford Green. It does great Turkish food, which is always fresh, and there is a great atmosphere.

Where do you like to go on holiday and why?

Any destination is good. We are off to the French Alps and Turkey this summer. I would love to go skiing again as I didn’t try skiing until my late 30s !

Football or rugby? Football. I often take my two boys, Frankie (15) and Freddie (11) to games at Leyton Orient or Arsenal. Freddie also plays for a local team, GFA Loughton. He won player of the year from the coach last year.

What are you listening to on your iPod?

My choice is jazz funk, soul and a bit of old school disco. Mostly Solar radio and some podcasts by Nathan Blake.

Where do you go in West Essex for a fashion fix?

Jun Qi which is a few doors down from our showroom, or Base in Loughton High Road always has a good range. I try and shop local to support independent outlets.

Is personal grooming important to you? If so, can you give us a top tip?

I am mindful of how I look. My top tip is to make sure you do your hair and teeth – I am always telling my boys!

What luxury could you not do without?

Not sure it’s classed as a luxury, but the support of my wife Julie and family during the early days of setting up the business and with my fundraising activity.
