Who are you and what do you do?
My names Adam Boulter and Im the director of Design Systems, a double glazing company in Chigwell.
How did you get started?
Design Systems is a family-run business which was set up by my dad in Camberley, Surrey. Established since 1980, it has expanded and now I run the branch that covers Essex and Hertfordshire.
What do you love about your job?
Meeting our customers and leaving them happy and satisfied once we have installed and improved their homes with our windows, doors and conservatories.
What is the secret of your success?
Sticking to my values of providing
quality products with an honest and reliable service.
What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
Setting up the Essex and Hertfordshire branch in a recession and making
it a success.
Where do you live and what do you like about it?
I live in Loughton. Its the perfect location for business as its close to major roads, but I love it because we are right on the doorstep of Epping Forest and on a tube line.
'Its important to look smart.personally it makes me feel good'
Which is your favourite local restaurant and why?
The Indian Ocean in Theydon Bois. But we have heard Seasons of Wanstead is good, so we are going to check it out sometime.
Where do you go for a lads night out?
I wish. I dont get much chance these days, but probably the King William in Chigwell and then maybe the Royal Oak in Loughton.
Do you have a claim to fame?
Only if you can call shooting a balloon off Emus head a claim to fame.
Do you own a man bag? If so, whats in it?
I do own a bag, but Im not sure its a man bag in its classic form. Its a Hugo Boss bag in which I carry around my brochures and survey sheets, along with my laptop.
What are your hobbies?
Football, the gym and walking our dog, Molly, round Epping Forest.
Football or rugby?
Football. I was put off rugby for life when I got sent off in school for clothes-lining another boy.
Where do you go in West Essex for a fashion fix?
I enjoy visiting Zee and Co in Loughton. Being local its so easy to pop in and grab a garment or pair of shoes when I need to.
Do you have a favourite hairdresser?
I go to Lemonhed in Loughton. They are all good, so I have anyone
that is available.
Is personal grooming important to you? If so, can you give us a top tip?
Of course. Its important to me to look smart and professional as I am promoting my company, but also personally it makes me feel good. Have a shave once a week and wear well fitted clothes, good aftershave and stylish shoes.
What luxury could you not do without?
My laptop, I couldnt run a business without one.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Opening another branch of Design Systems and living in a slightly more rural location in an Essex small holding.
