NYE is a time for celebration, to gather with friends and family and reflect on the highs and lows of the year while looking forward to the future. Where will you be when the clock strikes 12? Here are 11 fantastic places to choose from, courtesy of WEL
1. The Cuckfield, Wanstead
A favourite among the locals, this friendly pub at the heart of Wanstead was refurbished and reopened in early 2016. The wonderful atmosphere and the incredible range of craft beers, cask ales and homemade house tipples make this pub an ideal spot to see in your New Years celebrations. The Cuckfield will be open till late with free entry and a DJ.
2. Mezze, Woodford
This Turkish, Greek and Mediterranean restaurant in The Broadway, Woodford takes great pride in producing some of the best Turkish food this area has to offer. For the New Years celebration they have prepared a special menu being served from 8pm onwards that will cost £80 per person. 3. Seasons, Woodford Green
As the only bar in Woodford Green, Seasons is sure to be buzzing on New Years Eve night. The delicious cocktails and vibrant, lively atmosphere make it a hit with the 25s and over but, whatever your age, you’re sure to enjoy a night at Seasons. This year, see New Years in with a bang with the wonderful Charlotte Day who will be singing live from 8pm to 1am.
4. Catch, Buckhurst Hill
In a spot formerly inhabited by Sheesh, Nicky and Jackie Hunt have created Catch, a seafood restaurant specialising in fresh, locally sourced, delicious seafood and shellfish, a place where all the flavours of the Mediterranean fuse with your favourite British classics. For New Years Eve, Catch will be providing a live singer and evening entertainment as well as a mouth-watering set menu all for £70 a head, best get your tickets before they run out because this promises to be a great night.
5. The Bluebell, Chigwell
Situated in the heart of Chigwell, The Bluebell serves some of the finest British and European cuisine that the area has to offer. The relaxed atmosphere and first class customer service is only made better by the intimate setting of its lovingly restored 500 year old building. This years New Years Eve menu comes in at £95 per head but gets you a sumptuous 7-course gourmet meal followed by a live jazz singer for entertainment. The event runs from 7pm till 1am and should be booked as early as possible because the tickets are going fast.
6. Papillon, Chigwell
This wonderful family run Italian restaurant has won a lot of fans in the Chigwell area by serving mouth watering authentic Italian food combined with its delightful customer service. For a New Years celebration with a rustic Italian touch look no further than Papillion. It’s £95 per person for a three course menu and some wonderful live entertainment.
7. The Olive Tree, Loughton
If you’re searching for great food made with the areas freshest ingredients in a warm and friendly atmosphere, then The Olive Tree is the place for you. Serving mainly Greek and Mediterranean cuisine why not try something a bit different this New Years Eve and celebrate at The Olive Tree? The event will cost £85 per person and consists of a three-course meal with a glass of prosecco upon arrival; there will also be live entertainment from James Payne and the X Factor’s Austin Drage.
8. Kings Oak Hotel, Loughton
This cosy, relaxed gastro-pub is set in the beautiful surroundings of Epping Forest. The antique crystal chandeliers, authentic timber beams and red walls mean you can see in the New Year in cosy yet chic surroundings. The Essex New Years Party at the Kings Oak is unique in that it doesn’t place an age limit on its party goers. They believe New Years is a time for family so they make the whole family welcome. All of the event rooms will be decked out in a Winter Wonderland theme with a full buffet and DJ entertainment. Tickets will be £35 for adults and £15 for children under 15. 9. The George & Dragon, Epping
For a more relaxed New Years Eve celebration, the roaring log fires and comfy armchairs in The George & Dragon are perfect. This traditional pub in Epping has been stylishly refurbished and serves a delicious fresh, seasonal menu with a fantastic wine and ale selection. 10. Haywards, Epping
Another fantastic Essex venue for New Years Eve is Haywards. Head Chef Jahdre uses his extensive culinary knowledge to produce some of the best modern European cooking the area has to offer. It’s also right next to the charming Forest Gate Inn, a 17th Century free-house and B&B perfect for anyone who wishes to spend the night after the New Years Party. This year Hayward’s will be providing a luxurious tasting menu featuring homemade breads, amuse bouche and six courses of fine food for £105 per person and for an extra £40 supplementary wines will be matched to your meal. There will also be entertainment from singer and pianist Bethany George who will perform during the evening.
11. Kings Head, Ongar
Set in the heart of Chipping Ongar, the Kings Head is where old meets the new in spectacular fashion. The delightful 17th Century pub, where the food take centre stage with its fresh, beautifully presented and well sourced ingredients.
