Christmas has come early for car lovers! While buying a new motor is always exciting, and never more than when it’s new, shiny and straight from the factory floor.

The new 66 number plate launched nationwide on September 1 and, according to Nahide Crisp, Lexus Centre Principal at Hills of Woodford, it makes for one of the busiest times of the year.

‘New plates come out in September and March,’ she explains, ‘so we tend to be rushed off our feet.

‘We begin taking orders around six months before the new registration is introduced and everyone eagerly awaits their brand new car. There’s a brilliant sense of excitement in the showroom, it really is like Christmas for grown-ups who love cars.’

Hills’ Lexus offering ranges from the CT to the large RX450 4x4 and its Toyota range covers everything from the new Aygo to the iconic Land Cruiser.

Nahide says all the staff at Hills appreciate how important the purchase of a new car can be and try to make the hand-over as special as possible.

Hills’ Lexus showroom was recently refurbished to include a special hand-over bay for anyone collecting their brand new toy. Nahide says: ‘We turn down the lights then, at the push of a button, our sales representative turns them on for the big reveal.

‘We’ve had customers in tears because they’re so overwhelmed and so happy, it can be quite emotional for us too. A car is a major purchase, it’s not like buying a loaf of bread, and we want to make a big deal of it, we wanted it to be a special experience for each and every customer.’

Hills Automobiles, a family firm, was established in 1905 and has made its home on Woodford High Road for over three decades with showrooms situated either side of the Horse and Well public house. It’s has been with Toyota for over 40 years and Lexus for 25 years.

Nahide has been a part of the Hills ‘family’ for many years and admits she has seen some changes.‘Our showrooms are now incredibly modern with customers sitting on tall stools in one of our glass hubs as they use one of our big screens to build their car.

“When it comes to Lexus they can almost create their perfect vehicle, choosing between a range of interiors and exteriors and literally build the car they want to drive.’

Despite the changes, one thing remains, Hills Automobiles’ focus on customer service. The privately-owned company is a well-known business which has spent decades building an excellent reputation for bespoke service and client care.

Nahide says: ‘Our customers really do matter to us, and that’s why we get so many returning to us again and again. We are proud of our reputation and we work very hard as individuals, and a team, to ensure every customer leaves us feeling happy. We get many people coming back to thank us and that’s incredibly special.
