On Saturday 9 June come together with your family and friends and challenge yourselves to a 10 or 20 mile Pink Ribbon Walk for Breast Cancer Care
The event is a great day out for both walkers and supporters with tailor-made routes through the beautiful Essex countryside, starting and finishing at English Heritage’s Audley End House and Gardens.
You’ll be supported every step of the way with water and snack stations en route, and once you’ve crossed the finish line you’ll be treated to a complimentary hot meal, massage and that all important medal to commemorate your achievement.
Breast Cancer Care are the only UK-wide charity providing care, support and information for anyone affected by breast cancer. They recognise the emotional impact a diagnosis of breast cancer can have and every day they help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Care’s Pink Ribbon Walk Manager, Preena Mistry, said: ‘We’ll support you with every step while you do something special to support the thousands of people going through one of the toughest challenges they’ll ever face – breast cancer.’
All of the money raised will be used to support people affected by breast cancer. This year, according to breast cancer figures in Essex taken from the National Cancer Intelligence Network, more than 1,300 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Essex.
By taking part in a Pink Ribbon Walk you can help the charity continue to provide a range of free support services including, specialist nurses, local face-to-face services and a vital online support network.
Everyone who takes part will be invited to write a personal message on a pink ribbon and add it to the display of pink ribbons at the end of the walk, which is home to 14 years’ worth of tributes.
Preena added: ‘We’ve been collecting your messages of love and support on our display of ribbons for 14 years and we hold on to every single one. We’re delighted to be in Essex for the first time this year and can’t wait for you to add yours.’
